Growing Plant

TREE

PLANTING

Longonot Farm tree planting days take place 6 times a year to help offset some of Naivasha's carbon emissions; create wildlife habitats; reduce water run-off and make use of our unproductive sites. Everyone enjoys a nice soda at the end of it!

KENYA BIRD

OF PREY TRUST

Birds of Prey are a vital- but sadly misunderstood and overlooked- part of our ecosystems.

We therefore regularly support our neighbours, The Kenya Bird of Prey Trust, by donating materials and supporting their fundraising efforts.

SCHOOL VISITS

& EDUCATION OUTREACH

From where their food comes from to how to be a responsible and resourceful farmer, engaging youth in agriculture is crucial for the future of the industry and the planet. Maybe one of our young visitors will be the next Minister of Agriculture!

REDUCING OUR

EVERYDAY IMPACT

Modern commercial agriculture has a high impact on the environment. We are committed to reducing our footprint by implementing projects in:

- Rain water harvesting

- Wetlands drainage

- Solar power and green energy

- Plastic tray recycling

BEE KEEPING & PERMACULTURE

Bee pollination is not just crucial for the food we eat directly but also the foraging crops that feed our livestock. It also maintains the genetic diversity of the flowering plants needed by many of the other animals we rely on in the food chain. We therefore try to expand our apiary every year to help our nearby farms keep their field crops healthy.

Recently, our apiary has also become part of our ongoing permaculture demo site which showcases sustainable, polycrop and rotational farming methods to customers and nearby schools.
